Universalist Units

                          Universalist Units

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

If grains of sands     hold universes, then

The cosmoses are grains of sand.  The sense

Is clear, the logic locked, and so the men

Around you are each universal, dense

With meaning, matter, energy and force,

A force like entropy, more like the power

Of gravity.  Each man has sinistrorse

Inside him to envelope every tower

With vine and leaf and bloom. So, never mind

The minute and the hour:  eternity

Is everywhere.  Yes, every thing confined

Holds all, is like a man’s supernity.

  Infinity within a unit holds

All things inside wrapped all-inclusive folds.
