True Democracy
Young “men” erupt in riots in the streets
Of England, set some cars on fire, loot shop
Displays, and injure police dogs, break sheets
Of window glass, steal undershirts from Top
Shop—generally have a lot of fun.
They do this out of civic duty and pride.
It’s public obligation that they run
Away with looted trainers since we’ve plied
Them with Job Seekers’ Allowance and with
Child Benefit for all their youth, with free
Instruction in our schools and with the myth
That Britain is a true democracy.
..So, when they learn the truth, that only banks
….Are free, it’s time for us to call in tanks.
