To Everything There is a Season

There are two versions of this sonnet below.  The gender  of the lover is male in one and female in the other.  Enjoy your pick.

To Everything There is a Season

With April in his eyes he came to me.

They had a springtime certainty and wet

With hope they came with serendipity

And gleamed.  Both happiness and love had met.

….With August in his eyes a flaming heat

Rose up between us.  Tantalizing love

Became the meaning.  We dove in, complete

Like swimming naked.  Passion ruled above.

….  October in his eyes he turned away

So slightly only I could see the pall.

The leaves were turning with a destined sway

Towards death.   His eyes dried up and turned towards fall.

……..With winter in his eyes I turned around.

………. .. The wind was kind enough to make no sound.
