Think Like a Mountain
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Think like a mountain. Think where time, the past
And future meet. A mountain’s past is long
It’s future even longer if at last
Its world is frozen like an Arctic song
In ice, or one Antarctic glacier, sleek
And long as stars and other spheres express
Their notes in vacuum. The mountain peak
Desires a crux inside a goddess’ dress
Or up inside a god’s dark robe. The thrust
Engages rock hard root and yearning like
A climax high above earth’s victim crust.
A mountain is a sempiternal spike.
..Embrace them all, the howling clouds and air.

….The mountain is both hope and its despair.
