The Second Great Discombobulation
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Put on your robes. Ascension comes, is nigh.
The final time of Judgment’s mighty power
Is looming. Turn your eyes towards the sky.
Though Jesus says no man can know the hour,
The upstate New York farmer figured out
The date. Sell up your property and give
The proceeds to the preachers. Help to shout
The Second Coming news. You must forgive
Him last year’s blunder on the timing of
The day. This time he’s got it right because
He’s redefined a verse. You’ve gotta love
The hutzpah, reinterpreting a clause.
..So, never mind. The Christ is coming NOW.
….Lift up your eyes and see the final WOW.
