The Roman Matron, the Eloquent Philosopher, and the Rostrom in Rome from which He Delivered his Speeches
The matron Fulvia, once wife of two
Great men, awaits her chance. They both were foes
Of Cicero, first Clodius. Her new
One was Mark Antony. This day her clothes
Were special, or at least they then became
Remarkable. Her second husband sent
The orator philosopher’s now tame
Head, chopped off with his hand, the one he bent
To writing speeches and his books. They both
Were laid there in her lap. She plucked a pin,
Her hairstyle pin, and smiled, and with an oath
She pulled his tongue and stabbed the pin straight in.
..The lopped off hands and head were nailed then high
….Upon the Rostrom, left to rot and dry.
