The Interpretation of a Cherry Tree

The Interpretation of a Cherry Tree

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

If I were like a tree limb, I would sleep

As if in blossom like a cherry tree,

Not just a branch.  My secrets I would keep

Inside me like pink dreams, but I would be

The whole tree giving April meaning.  No

Bad dreams, no nightmares would intrude inside

My cherry-tree striped bark with dark red glow.

My inner self and surface would be dyed

The color every love would wish to shine

With every spring or maybe all year round,

With depth of beauty like a brooding wine.

With crimson heartwood I would hold taut, bound.

The meaning of the universe would gleam,

Then find my prisoned petals and redeem.
