The Golden Rule
Philosophically Plated
Take pleasure for yourself like hummingbirds.
Give joy to others as you swallow juice
They give. Ignore Religion’s numbing words.
There’s nothing wrong with being jolly loose
So long as you don’t harm those others. Live
And take the nectars that they offer. Let
Them all surrender sweetly as they give
You thrills. Just be sure you share and get,
Perhaps not equally in measure. How
Could you be sure of that? The greedy bird
Flits fast from flowers to flowers. They endow
With pollen. Other morals are absurd.
Give and get, and get and give. That treasure
Is truest ethics–pleasure and pleasure.
