Something’s Got to Give

     Something’s Got to Give

She cornered all the legends.  She became
The legends’ curves.  The moghuls and the sports
Star tried to lasso her godessness, lame
And crippled though it limped with all its warts
Of mental instability.  The mark
Of beauty on her tongue-smile cheek ensnared
The sternest playwright.  Beauty like a shark-
Infested archipelago she shared
With men and millions on the screen of dreams.
Deprived, depraved, sorrowing married men
And women sucked red power from the gleams
She gave off.  She was blasphemy’s cayenne.
..She had the sense to die before she aged.
….She chose the afterlife she wanted caged.
