Silent Singing

“The silent stars go by” ~ Phillips Brooks

The stars are silent, always silent, though

If one soars through another auraed star,

A roar must sound.  Their particles must go

Right through coronas.  Each hot haar must scar

The other but the silence, once profound,

Turns like a scream or screams, until the blank

Of space, that vacuum that chokes all sound.

Surrounding vacuums of suns must yank

The yowling into nothingness.  So, still

The stars are soundless as we watch their swan

Songs made of solar matter while they shrill

Together, swan songs of this sort soon gone.

The silent stars go sly since we can not

Experience their howls though harshly hot.
