Questing Everywhere Except Inside

Questing Everywhere Except Inside

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Too many try to live by trifles taught

Them by a fast-filled Buddha or a saint,

Pastel in spirit by the time they sought

His insights hoping they can wipe out taint

While being human.  Fighting nature, man

And woman searching Plato or the Christ,

These scavengers decide to find a plan

To save them from themselves, a magic heist

To realms of crystal virtue, abstract wealth

Of spirit, soul uplifted by the tools

Of righteousness — and chest straps for heart health.

These victims think that they want outside rules.

These seekers seldom aim to be themselves.

Instead, they troll through seminary shelves.
