Prospero’s Priorities: He
Goes Straight Out the Door
My cat believes that he should be a cat.
He knows that he’s conflicted in this thing:
He thinks he’s tip top, an aristocrat,
And so deserves each comfort I can bring
Such as a heated mat and that his man
Should cater for his dietary needs,
And that his comforts are within the span
Of humans who adore him. All their deeds
Should be directed to his whims. But then
He also wants his freedom and to be
Allowed to go outside, yes, even when
It’s bloody cold out there. He must be free!
He balances the urge to go and kill
Against soft comforts. Coziness scores nil.
