Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Glass globes with snow scenes in them are alone

In holding innocence.  No other space

Shows equal calm.  Most others whisper groan

While others scream and shriek above a bass

Of threat — more trantrum of divine decree.

In every second, billions munch and gulp

Life down to endless death.  An endless spree

Of chomping turns to gasping bloody pulp

Untold of creatures microscopic, vast hordes

Of warm and gluttoned beasts, and crammed with pain.

Unnumbered times of evolution’s swords

Have sent their pulsing guts down doomed life’s drain.

Some mouths of cannibals enjoy the brains

Of mates.  This spares Jehovah messy stains.
