Pluto’s Shoulder

                    Pluto’s Shoulder

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Stone carved with symbols tends to make them harsh

Or far more beautiful because the soul

Of beauty lasts in marble, hard gem harsh

As facets on a diamond.  A scroll

Of granite on a tomb insists with lines

Of certainty parading with no breath

That endless facts and holiest of shrines

Will overcome immortal marble death.

The tangle of the truth we know as force

Of physics, energy and matter, doomed

By entropy to nothingness is coarse.

This can’t be stopped no matter what fate’s loomed.

The beauty of a shoulder shaped in stone

Is like eternity upon Christ’s throne.
