Plato Hated Poetry, Poor Thing

First Sappho catalogued the symptoms of

Tsunami wave emotions.  Sickness like

This malady has been treated as love

By writers ever since.  It is a spike

Right through the thorax, never mind a prong

From Cupid, and a conflagration through

Our arteries and guts.  It isn’t wrong

To  say that Plato was a failure who

Tried stupidly to dress it up as souls

Transported to the realms of spirit highs

Above mere lust, above the fevered poles

Desiring gals, and guys’ cocks gouging guys.

..Which one was truer, Plato’s more abstract

….Ideal, or Sappho on the fuckin’ act?
