His haunting and the myths of him have brought
Him through millennia. He caused the beasts
To fall in love with lyre and voice, enthralled
Them. They were first to turn into his priests.
Then trees were charmed to gather round when called
By music from his fingers and his throat.
They circled him and moaned with wind in groves.
He made the plants and animals to dote
And caused the dance of dolphins in their coves.
..St. Francis did the same except the trees
….And dolphins were quite deaf to holy pleas.
