Myrrh When God Became Small

Myrrh When

God

Became

Small

Two times the God of Heaven and earth became

As small as God can be.  The first time he

Was laid in swaddling clothes.  They made him tame

As any ox or sheep.  Eternity

Looked down upon a little mite on straw,

The might of heaven in a manger bed.

Jehovah was the tyke the Wise Ones saw.

The next time God became quite small, His head

Was stabbed and bruised from where the thorns and whips

And clubs had struck.  Then he again was bound

In strips of cloth.  Lamb’s blood had caked his lips,

Till Nicodemus entered to confound

Despair with herbs and washing.  Love and myrrh

Meant resurrection could only concur.
