Forgetting is the way that humans charge
Ahead. Our histories are just the quay
That once great empires of the mind send out
Their navies and their armies from. This wharf
Is far, far smaller than the lands of doubt
Which hold the unmapped continents that dwarf
The mental storage places we can feel.
For every shoulder that our hearts retrieve,
Ten thousand moments that our minds conceal
Are stacked in blankness brains cannot reprieve.
