…Meditation
The quiet colors still remain when spring
Brings out the louder choir of daffodil
And jonquil voices. Darker purples sing
Beneath the hedge despite the yellow shrill
Of trumpets. Shadowed violets, still, give
Off redolence ultraviolet to
The needy nose and shaded green leaves live
Just underneath the little blooms, a coup
For nuances amongst the blare of whites
And waving pink on trees. Block the yellow
Crescendos from the mind! Treat them as blights
And search out something velvet and mellow.
Or you can settle for a compromise:
The calm of pale white violets for eyes.
