Lucifer after Love
It used to be that every breath was you.
Every step I took — you were the reason.
A pulse thrilled through an artery and blue
Vein; you were throbbing it. Now a treason
In heaven has congealed my chest to rock.
It splinters as it plummets down to hell,
Pretending that my heart is angel shock
Expressed as falling stars that plunge pall mall
In spatterings of agony. The lungs
And bones beside the heart are shattered gems
Like angels’ eyes beyond their yelling tongues.
My innards are exposed as spirit hems
Rise high above the genitals of trust.
Now firework sorrow is my gelded lust.
