Love is Thicker than Blood
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Ask Romeo on Juliet. They know.
So, never mind blood being thicker than
Mere water. Blood commands a certain flow
Propelled by thumping flesh. The love of man
For lover floods as waters never will.
The love of woman for the one who loves
Her builds a dam against the world. The spill
Of it is not to be controlled. It shoves
Up higher from her depths and swollen, thick,
And warmer than a well, cannot be mopped
Up by the rules. The other loves will lick
At it with greed, yet it will not be stopped.
.. But unlike blood, this love will surge and not
….Be doomed. This heart-dyed love will never clot.
