Life Lives the Life of Life
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
A friend asks you the meaning of our life.
As soon as it is asked, the question fails.
To ask it shouts religions’ godless strife.
To ask it only shows that thinking pales.
Let life itself provide the sermons you
Desire, or just one sermon. “Now.” The voice
Of God is not enough. Life gives the view
If you allow yourself your sovereign choice.
Just open up your eyes, the ones your face
Provides, and you will see those things that souls
Supposedly can prophesy. First brace
Yourself and dare to pierce the fiercest holes.
The dooms you fear are there but also more.
Be brave. Face truth. Do not hate self. Wage war.
