He’s Out of Place Here
He’s out of place here, looks like he’s a fan
Of Manchester United, one who stands
Among the other scarf-draped blokes. A man
With snub nose, eyebrows thick like black iron bands
Is reading here. A sloping forehead, small
Enough to limit his capacity
To think, is overridden by the drawl
Of loveliness in lips our eyes can see
In profile and full on. Somehow (don’t ask!)
The overall effect is beauty and
It is as if the Lord, assigned the task,
Set stunning looks there with a fiery brand.
He gets up from his study desk. His white
Sports shoes and hoody are working-class trite.
