Though poetry, it seems, cannot resist

The force of gravity, the lines can try.

Perhaps the probing loveliness of Liszt

Is pulled high, upward, Magyar blue sky

Outgunning gravity.  In fact the weight

Of sound is negative in its effect

Against that force.  The music’s hate of hate

Makes melodies float up and intersect

With heaven.  Chopin even more so floats

Above the islands in the Seine.  My book

Falls down from near my laptop, but the notes

Of Liszt and Chopin fight the force’s hook.

The little book fell down and hit the floor,

But music is a bleu, unfinished score.
