The hollowness of neys is crucial to

Their meaning.  That is what platonic thought

Would say.  Their Dervish melodies are true,

But only to the faithful.  Teachings taught

By them are suspect since the notes strung out

In worship are accessible alone

To mystic dancers in a trance.  The doubt

For Plato and disciples is that tone

And tone produced in mysteries of love

As fevered as that music and those swirls

May be divine, may be as far above

Unfevered lives as heaven’s perfect pearls,

But they are not Ideals.  Religion’s tones

Of flawnessness are only that, just clones.
