Gardenias and Snowdrops
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
I send you all the fragrances of flowers,
Those heavy with rich overtones as well
As those with light perfumes of tranquil hours,
The spicy ones which have the piquant smell
Of sweet, exotic places, Shalimar,
And shining gardens of the potent east,
Of Madagascar and of Zanzibar,
Aromas that strange blossoms have released.
Aromas that are instantly revived
Inside the heart float up to you. Embrace
Them in your blood because of scarlet leaved
Intentions lifting them to touch your face.
..I send you scents compounded of whimsy
And other things immortal and flimsy.
