Ganymede Has Auroras Glowing in His Captured Air

Ganymede Has Auroras Glowing in His Captured Air

The largest moon of Jupiter is male,

Much larger than the female ones.  Its weight

Is less than Mercury’s but then the scale

Of Ganymede is larger.  Zeus’s mate

Forever clings around his greatest god

And spins forever in his grasp.  That spin

Is not as close as female moons, more awed

By Jupiter, because of greater sin.

He weighs much more than females, Io or

Callisto.  Jupiter can feel him, though.

The heavy, massive maleness urges more.

He is of course more distant as his beau

Than priestess or a princess might succeed

In being.  He fullfilled the god’s great need.
