Forget the Starving Children in China

Forget the Starving Children in China

We used to think the world was square and flat
And we the hub for planets and the sun,
But now we know that we are round and fat.
The folk, I mean:  we’re having too much fun.
We’re doing all we can to put on weight.
We stuff ourselves with carbohydrates, white
Bread, rice, and sweets–and supersize the plate.
So, now we’re told the earth’s new major plight
Is that the people of the world aren’t thin
And starving.  No.  The larger portions are
Obese.  Forget the wilting millions in
Sudan.  Our problem is that next Mars bar!
Our difficulty is Rab’s swollen vest.
Our dietary hard work’s in the West.
