Everlasting Loop of Covetousness
We want eternity to stretch out more,
To be extended past infinity.
We want our human, tattered, pulsing core
To break the boundaries of divinity.
The gods of many faiths have died. They used
To be immortal. They are now as dead
As Nagasaki silhouettes diffused
To empty outlines the color of dread.
So being Allah, or Jehovah, or
A Vishnu is pathetic in this scheme
Of greed that we deploy. More like a whore
Who wants true love and money, that’s our dream.
Our hearts resist acceptance of our lot.
We want to be an endless googel knot.
