Even?
“A relationship between two poets of the same sex, even if there
is a physical basis, may provide an intensive intellectual
companionship and stimulation.” ~ Wallace Fowlie, 1946
When poetry explodes in friction from
Deep similarities, expect the best
And worst. When two drug-driven men can plumb
The depths of two calderas, lovers wrest
Hot lava newness in their words. Those brains
And hearts will catch like continental plates
As one rams from above and causes strains
More vast than mountains crashing with their weights
Against each other’s roots. Their feelings, brains
And flesh will judder like two planets hit
By moons or ancient gods who, casting lots,
Find prophecies that they can then transmit.
These drugs include the poetry and lines
That this divining tension redefines.
