Each Moves inside her Veil
Each moves inside her veil and longer robe
As if protected from the fact of life,
But crude and commonplace conditions probe
Their would be certainties. The truth is rife
With complications. Husbands beat their wives
When robes and veils have been ripped off. Cancer
Insinuates itself in wombs and drives
A reassessment of belief. Answer
After answer falters. A cousin rapes
The pre-school daughter and the beardless boy.
The horror swells inside them and reshapes
Their souls. He changes each to tongueless toy
And mother doesn’t know what’s happened to
