Dark Star Boy

                      Dark Star Boy

Slight primness there around his mouth, so slight

It’s quite unfair to notice it . . .  it makes

Him look as if the hulking skies of night

Have never interested him.  The lakes

Of stars in space have never caught his eye.

He’s never even looked at photos of

The galaxies.  So much is what the sly,

Slight primness says.  He hasn’t known the love

Of constellations.  Nor has he sought out

An understanding of the places where

New suns are born.  It looks as though a pout

Of self-absorption orbits round his hair.

It seems as if some factor, dark and dense

    Though, meditates in his intelligence.
