Cosmic Encryption Broadcast Wide as Bach

Cosmic Encryption Broadcast Wide as Bach

The mounting skylark sings the song of world

Religions everywhere.  The leap from ground

To piercing toward the stratosphere is swirled

With incandescent notes.  The lark has found

The meaning of the universe and sets

Itself the prophet’s task, a sacred one,

Of spreading melodies as holy jets

Of ciphered meaning, calling on the sun

To play a background part in rapture’s soul.

This message isn’t just a tiny trill.

Instead it is a swirling seer’s scroll

Sent out across the fields and sky, a shrill,

Fierce urgency bereft of words.  Its codes

Remain unbroken since they hold God’s odes.
