Byron and the Boyfriend He Never Got to Meet

Byron and the Boyfriend He Never Got to Meet

A man’s poetic quality depends

On his capacity for love, or so

Said Rimbaud.  More like lust.  His lovers, friends

And innocent bystanders saw the glow

Of his to devotion to his verse.   His heart?   . . .

No phosphorescence glimmered at its core.

So, did this lack of love improve his art?

Lord Byron was a predeceasing whore

Whose loves (except for half sister) were deep

As his glans could reach, no more.  If for boys

Or women, his affections, like the sweep

Of his creations, shone like pretty toys.

One infamous baron wrote rhinestone lines.

….The French lad ransacked blood diamond mines.
