The mockingbird sings not to us but to
The hovering night. He brings the evening on

Becomes the night, the opposite of dawn,
Because of mockingbirds. The whip-poor-will
Abets this change that those are singing for.
These allies cause the lingerng light to fill
With singing blackness. Blackbirds’ measures pour
More beauty into night and robins sing
