And Moaning about How We Can’t Go Get a Sunburn on the Costa Blanca

And Moaning about How We Can’t Go Get a Sunburn on the Costa Blanca

As calm as Eisenhower after war

While playing golf with Mamie left behind,

We turn ourselves away to things much more

Enjoyable.  Ignoring earthquake grind

Of human flesh and souls in Haiti, we

Get on with shopping for our favorite things

Online or in the fancy, fancy flea

Market, Portobello Road . . . froufrou rings.

We turn our backs on Afghan women’s doom

By surfing through the web for sexy face

And . . . otherwise.  We turn our backs on gloom,

And . . . using eBay . . . buy a gorgeous vase.

  A bargain at a bargain-basement price

Is what we love.  This is our spoiled vice.
