   Abandoned for Skip on

 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W.

.

I met you in a Georgetown street one day

Alone among the shopping crowds, we two.

We talked as if you had not left us all,

Left me and others, wife and Matt, who grew

Away in pain.  He used to hit his mom

So violently because your absence scarred

Him.  That was like a failed young man’s vest bomb

Except it was the opposite.  You barred

Him from such huge relief.  But when you saw

Another man, you soon excused yourself.

Abandonment mauled like a druggy paw.

You needed hits and left me on the shelf.

It was all that I could do not to scream

As in a rush like falling in a dream
