The saddest little things come down to us
From ancient history. A woman fell
In love but then this lady had to cuss
That Thetima whom he preferred. A spell
She cast on her in words inscribed in lead.
Pathetically the lady thought that she
The Pella curse tablet
Could get that man. If only she had said,
“May he not marry anyone but me.”
How pitiful is that? Another man
Went with a piglet trotting by his side
From Thessalonica. A wagon ran
Right over it. The scampering piglet died.
..The ruler of the empire lost his soul
….To one young athlete sucked down Hades’ hole.
