People are Starving in South Sudan
(This poem has many illustrations. Keep going till you have read the rhyming couplet.)
“A macaroon! A macaroon! “I cannot live without a macaroon!”
~ Pierrot, Aria da Capo by Edna St. Vincent Millay
“We live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessities.”
~ Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Grey
An iPhone and an iPad are the Must
Haves now. Perhaps the Samsung S8 phone
Will help the sufferers avoid this lust.
It’s sort of second rate, like methadone,
Though. Gucci knitted shirts are right up there
But Polos by Lauren will almost do.
No out of fashion fragrances like L’Air
Du Temps, Chanel No. 5, nor ole Blue
Grass can suffice. Perfumes and colognes must
Be named for rappers or Hollywood stars
Or sporting champions—the upper crust.
In Delhi it would be Bollywood stars. . .
..The point is this: not even one of these
….Must haves is part of ethics’ decencies.
