Unexpected Metallic Mental Images
Imagine being naked, turned to green
Bronze, appliquéd with gold growths on your chest,
And trying to look calm. The metal sheen
Of gilding, coral-like, has coalesced
Upon the semi-gloss of sternum, mounds
Of breasts, and upper torso. Worm casts grown
In wonky spiral curves have made their rounds
Across you. You’d have heard their silver moans
If you had only listened and your ears
Had not been stoppered with the seabed scales.
The sea anemones have sent bent spears
Up from your pubis. You consider whales
And other hugenesses you wanted. These
Desires have caused stiff serendipities.
