Progressive Mathematics as Stanzas
When poetry was mathematics back
In distant, ancient India, the lines
Were full of meanings that our poems lack
Today. With sinuousity of vines
Instead of straight or angled equals marks
And long equations on the smoothed out scrolls,
The reckonings were more like royal parks
Of beauty in the mind. Each concept rolls
Out now esthetically as verse by Wilde
As well as hypothetically as sums
And angles. The nibs and inks were mild
With calm as pretty girls’ dancing drums.
This poetry was dense in beauty as
The most quadratic of saxophonic jazz.
