Canines Having Trouble Disengaging
“A kid Casanova, but even more so a certified expert in love-affairs, doesn’t he laugh with his flaring nostrils and his handsome dimpled chin … ?” ~ Paul Verlaine, Les Poètes Maudits
……….
Promiscuous in everything except
His truth to verse, he found himself in bed
With young and younger men and more adept
Than all of them. This Rimbaud learned they bled
Not just from skin and veins but in their guts
And hearts when he was finished with his needs.
He was a cruel cur, but they were muts,
Mere mongrels when he had planted his seeds
And then had trouble pulling out the hulk
He’d stuck in them. They couldn’t separate
That easily and went off in a sulk.
They limped away with a wide, bowlegged gate.
..If they looked back, they saw his dimpled chin
….And flaring nostrils, flaring with their sin.
