The Synthesizer in
Rare Books and Music
in the British Library
The sterness of his haircut and his face,
Especially the cruelty in the height
Of manly cheekbone, the studious place
(Rare Books and Music Room, a lamp with light
So harshly aimed at perfect, snobby nose)
All tell us he is granite seriousness.
Yet maybe this is all his stylish pose;
Yes, maybe it’s plastic imperiousness.
I wander past his place and check out what
He’s taking Apple notes on, what he has
In front of him. It turns out he’s a cut
Below the rest. He’s studying bloody jazz!
..Against his pastel Mac a big book leans.
…..He’s into sequencers and drum machines.
