Psalm 109:14
“The night that is gone, to following night”
We all are simulacrams of the past.
Our pasts and ancestors are forever
Gone; no, they wrap our skeletons, aghast,
With DNA and stuff we can never
Escape, stretched backward unto Greece undone
Or Ethiopia. Until the third
And fourth bent generation, re-run, re-run,
Glitch after glitch even, trying to gird
Up trailing loins, our souls cannot succeed
In casting out these devils and these ghosts—
Drug louts and grandfathers who had the need
To spread promiscuous seed with staining boasts.
..Unhappier than Korah, our tribe groans.
….Our fates are in and haunting round our bones.
