Jazz-like Imperial
Deep purple held in purples deeper yet,
This blossom is the purple every rose
Has dreamed of. Long centuries of blooms have set
Their reveries on it. When rosebushes doze,
They dream of darker purples in their hearts,
Of chord-like, darkest purples. When they wake,
They find their pinkish, petaled, pastel parts
A yawning let down. Blinking, roses ache
For fuller flowers, filled with serious
Profundity. Their other hues seem
A disappointment to mysterious
Desires, loud reds and whispering calm cream.
The realm of roses wants a royal hue,
Beyond the colors of a sunset blue.
