Ugly (Young Men)
What must it be like if you’re ugly when
Your twenty? I see lots of ugly guys
Around me in the world. These younger men
Don’t wear a burkha showing only eyes,
Nope. No. They walk around as if their mugs
Are bearable to those who pass them, but
They aren’t. Their bodies are as fit as slugs,
Their arms are thin and hairy…and a gut
Precedes them as they walk along the way.
I think that maybe they have cauliflowers
Instead of balls. And given my dismay,
I question if these guys ever take showers.
What a fate to be ugly all their lives.
And how do they find boyfriends or wives?
