Resolution of Daydreams

     Resolution of Daydreams

This year I must resolve to disregard

To Do lists and the Devil.  I’ll make peace

With them.  They’ve both tattooed me or have scarred

My saffron meadows.  They both blockade Greece

And blue struck sunlight from a templed isle.

They hate the beauty that is waiting for

Me if I ever meet my dreams.  A Nile

Of checklists silted up my life.  The more

Of them I finished and the more I proved

That I could master them, the more they trapped

Me in their hard on tasks.  Then Satan moved

Me into checkmate, with duties slapped

On top of duties in my long career.

I’m waiting still for Delos to appear.
