No Volcanoes of Bleak Lava Anywhere
No single thing pours darkness into space,
Not one. All bodies give off heat or light,
Or store, absorb them, never spray a mace
Of blackness whether they are specks in flight
Around a nucleus or clustered group
Of galaxies around a central mass.
No glimmering celestial Neptune hoop,
Or asteroid, or star like molten glass
Can dream of slinging anti-light across
The cosmos. Comets do not trail a spark
Of night time. Comets stream out flare and gloss.
No singularity can spew out dark.
Our cosmos glisters energy and flame.
Deep brightness and not darkness is its aim.
