“Nature, red in tooth and claw”  — Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Can it be possible to tell the truth?
We doubt it, if we’ve ever known its height,
And depths, and breadth.  It isn’t in the booth
We call religion, where claims are too slight–
Or far too huge, especially because
Of its restrictive, text-bound views.  It can’t
Be found in science’s restricting laws,
Since we can only wonder where their grant
Came from.  Our brains, though very large, are small,
Complexities within in them double crossed,
The irrational and logical all
Entangled in the ganglia and lost.
00  The ultimate confusion’s not above
0000  Our hearts.  The largest labyrinth is love.
