Cat Lustre
How long does glow upon a black cat’s fur
Last once his steps are gone? He disappears
In night without a moon. Does gloss turn blur,
Or worse? If fur goes where there are no spheres,
Does it then sublimate to nothing through
That night? What if his journey takes him round
A corner to a place you cannot view
And have not yet experienced, to ground
Not yet explored? Does gloss go into nil
Where gleamingnesses go to waste beyond
Retrieval and where all things glinting spill
Away to nothingness by evil wand?
When he is dead and buried in a grave
Past garden gate, does gloss glow up that cave?
